Those wonderful toys: Sonic Screwdriver Universal Remote

ThinkGeek and the BBC have gotten together to create a real-life Sonic Screwdriver, and it went on sale last week. The IR-based remote can control "99.9% of all devices that use an IR remote." You can purchase the Sonic Screwdriver Universal Remote at ThinkGeek.com or order from the BBC America Shop, though it won't be available there until October 14. Modeled after the one carried by the current Doctor, the Sonic Screwdriver is a solid piece of craftsmanship, made of copper-plated die-cast metal and has some weight to it. It comes in a nice display case, so if you want to park it on a shelf and look at it, you can. But why would you, when it can control your TV, Blu-Ray, Stereo, air conditioner, ceiling fan, and any other device that has an IR remote?
